Maria Elisabeth Pender is a Canadian wildlife artist based in Strathroy, Ontario, who specializes in capturing the natural world using acrylic paints on canvas. Her artistic journey began early in life, ignited by the vivid memory of watching her brother create a striking painting of a woodpecker using oil pastels. That foundational moment sparked a lifelong devotion to drawing and painting.
While practicing her craft through the years, Maria dynamically balanced her creative passion with the demands of raising five children and working full-time. Now retired and with her family grown, she has returned to her art full-time, dedicating her days to the brush. Maria’s refined focus on nature and wildlife has earned her international recognition, recently highlighted by her selection and publication in the global 101 Art Book: Nature Edition.
